More Gmail Space on the Way

I just read an article at cNet stating that Google is planning to increase the storage capacity of Gmail accounts to 2 GB! I still have plenty of invites left if anyone is interested. Just leave a comment (make sure to enter an email address in the comment form…only I will be able to see it).

No Resurrection No Christianity

At this time of year it is common to read of “Christian” leaders and theologians who say they adhere to the teachings of Jesus yet do not believe that He rose from the dead among other things. For example I read an article in the newspaper today where a retired Lutheran minister says that the resurrection was something of a spiritual metaphor not a historical reality. But what do the Scriptures say? Really there is no more clear portion of Scripture on this matter than 1 Corinthians 15:12-19 which reads:

12 Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? 13 But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain and your faith is in vain. 15 We are even found to be misrepresenting God, because we testified about God that he raised Christ, whom he did not raise if it is true that the dead are not raised. 16 For if the dead are not raised, not even Christ has been raised. 17 And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins. 18 Then those also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. 19 If in this life only we have hoped in Christ, we are of all people most to be pitied.

If Christ has not risen from the dead then Christian preaching is hollow, empty, ultimately worthless (verse 14). If Christ has not risen from the dead than the apostles have lied about God because they proclaimed that God raised Jesus from the dead. Furthermore, those who still proclaim that Christ has risen are liars and grossly misrepresenting God (verse 15). Christian faith is empty and worthless if Christ has not risen. We are still in our sins and under the wrath of God (verse 17). All of our brothers and sisters in the faith who have gone before us have perished. They did not enter into eternal life and we too will likewise die in our sins (verse 18). We Christians are poor misguided bunch and our efforts to follow Christ in this life are foolish if Christ has not risen (verse 19).

So if Christ has not risen then there is no Christianity. But He has risen! He is the resurrection and the life (John 11:17). He was punished for our transgressions against God and raised from the dead to secure our justification (Rom. 4:25). He is exalted. He sits at the right hand of God and He is coming again.

Things You Don’t Read About Everyday

I’ve only been blogging sporatically because life is quite busy right now, but I couldn’t help but point out this article about a Muslim woman leading in prayer at an Islamic service in Manhattan.

There are a couple of things that are rather interesting to point out. First, a woman gave the call to prayer and another woman lead the prayer time. Anyone familiar with Islam knows that this is not the way things are done. Secondly, this unconventional prayer service was held at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Does that strike anyone as odd?

Where Have I Gone?

I haven’t been blogging much at all the last several weeks. School has gotten really busy and I’ve been trying to concentrate on studying hard. I apologize to anyone who actually reads my blog for having so little content lately. I will try to post as I have time, but I expect things to stay pretty busy on through the end of the semester. I do have spring break coming up soon so maybe I’ll have a few things to write about then.

From the Headlines

Just when you begin to think that many parents have lost their minds and that “medical professionals” do not give good advice you come across an article like this one…..that totally confirms your beliefs! The headline from this article reads “4th-Grade Girl To Become Boy”…very crazy…very sad.
