I began re-reading The Practice of Godliness by Jerry Bridges recently. It is an excellent book on developing godly character. If you have not read it yet I encourage to get a copy. I’ve read a few other books by Jerry Bridges and have benefited from each.

The chapter I read recently dealt with devotion to God. Mr. Bridges suggests thinking of devotion to God in terms of a triangle with the fear of God and love of God forming the base and desire for God as the apex. I found this illustration to be helpful and quickly created something to share with you all.

Last December I posted about various Bible reading plans that are available from Discipleship Journal. It appears that since the time I wrote in December Discipleship Journal has begun charging for these plans and prohibits making copies. The plan I have includes the following line, “Permission is granted to reprint unlimited copies of the DJ Bible Reading Plan”. This is no longer the case. Now the sample plans that are available online include a watermark that says, “DO NOT COPY”.

Our church decided to use the Original Discipleship Journal Bible Reading Plan before the copying prohibition was put in place. I suppose we will not be using the plan again next year. I will not be using it as well.

Yahoo has released “Social media buttons” that would be a great addition to your blog if you have not already implemented something similar. The buttons include “Bookmark” (think del.icio.us), “Send”, “Blog”, “Print”. Check out the resources here.
