I love using beautiful scenery shots for my desktop wallpaper. This particular photo comes from a photographer commissioned by Microsoft to shoot photos for the Windows Vista Wallpaper Collection (this particular photo does not come with the OS).

I may begin posting shots of my desktop fairly regularly since I often change my wallpaper and because it will give me something to post on Saturdays.

I’ve been using Windows Vista on my home PC for about two months now and have been fairly happy with it. However, one of the more annoying problems I’ve encountered is choppy audio playback. While listening to my music collection the audio will stutter every few minutes. A quick Google search pointed me toward this post on the Dell Forums. The information on the Dell Forums contains a link to a sound card driver update as well as a possible fix in case the driver update does not solve the problem. The fix is this:
- Open the Control Panel and Click on “Hardware and Sound”
- In the sound category click on “Manage audio devices”
- Right-click on “Speakers and Headphones” and then choose the “Enhancements” tab.
- In the Enhancements tab check the “Disable all enhancements” checkbox and click “Ok” and “Ok” once more to exit.
This seemed to do the trick for me.

It looks like we’ll be getting a few more days off after Spring Break. CSU faculty have voted to begin striking next month. With about six more weeks of classes left in my college career I sure hope this doesn’t prolong my stay.
From SignOnSanDiego.com:
Faculty at the largest public university system in America on Wednesday voted to strike over a bitter salary standoff that has professors blasting recent executive pay hikes while bemoaning instructor compensation that they contend is too meager.
California State University, which includes San Diego State and Cal State San Marcos, plan to begin rolling two-day strikes next month which will start on each campus on different dates.
