Both of these photos were shot on a beautiful December day in La Jolla last weekend.

This is Scripps Pier. I spent the better part of my high school years surfing right next to it. I hadn’t been down here in quite some time. It was nice to be back.

Not everyone knows that it snows in San Diego County. This is the view from my parents’ front yard of some of the snow capped mountains. Notice the charred landscape in the foreground. The fires came right through this area in October. This shot is actually composed of seven separate photos stitched together. You can see a larger version here. Also, if you click on the photo you’ll be taken to Flickr where there’s a link to a version on a black background which looks pretty nice.

In the same weekend that we were able to see snow on the mountain tops we also spent some time at the beach. As you can tell from my son’s attire it wasn’t too warm!
