Friday Photos
Last weekend I spent a few hours walking/hiking the trails at Daley Ranch. Here’s the entrance.
I saw this on the road leading up to Daley Ranch. It’s surrounded by newer homes. I wonder how much longer it will be there.

It’s Been One of Those Weekends
On Friday son #1 got a piece of gravel in his eye. We were unable to get it out so he and I took a trip to urgent care where the doctor was able to remove it. The gravel scratched his cornea so the doctor applied a path over the eye. That evening son #2 began to show signs of coming down with a cold. On Saturday morning both son #1 and son #2 were coughing and feeling very bad. In addition, my wife has been battling something for the past week or two. We haven’t been getting much sleep as it is with a newborn in the house and with two other sick children sleep has been a rather elusive dream. As of today some smiles have started to slowly return though.
(My kids’ expressions in the photos above weren’t coerced. They were feeling that bad.)
Friday Photos
This past weekend one of my sons spent time picking berries from a bush at his grandparents’ house. After he threw most of them in the jacuzzi(!) he showed me what was left.

I received a new lens for my birthday–the Sigma 70-300mm APO DG Macro (that’s a mouthful). I haven’t had much time to play with it yet, but it did allow me to get a tad “closer” to the moon for this shot.

This and That
We went out to dinner tonight for my oldest son’s birthday. When we asked him what he would like to eat he said:
I decided this morning that I would like steak!
Such expensive tastes for someone so young.
I’ve uploaded a few of my photos to Imagekind. Imagekind allows artists and photographers to sell their work online. I actually created an account because I’m interested in getting a few high quality, framed prints of some of my photos. Now that my account is set up anyone can get prints of the images I’ve uploaded. Check it out at http://ryanwentzel.imagekind.com. By the way, you can see all of my photos at my Flickr photostream.
So far this year I’ve read The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (highly recommended), Frankenstein by Mary Shelley (not quite as good as Dracula), completed volume 1 of Iain Murray’s biography of Martyn Lloyd-Jones (I first read the 2 volumes in 2001-2002 and started them again late last year), and am now working my way through The Odyssey by Homer. Anyone reading anything interesting? Feel free to share.
