This week’s Friday photos are of downtown San Diego. The first shot was taken from Coronado Island looking at the San Diego skyline at sunset.

This shot was taken from Spanish Landing looking toward the marina at Harbor Island.

Last Saturday I woke up at 4:30 AM after having slept for 3 hours. I left my house at 5:00 AM to drive down to Coronado Island with the hope of catching a few good shots of the San Diego skyline. The sun hadn’t come up yet when I arrived. After finding a spot with a good view of downtown San Diego I set up my tripod and began shooting.

Below is one of the first shots of the day. You can see more photos from my trip to Coronado in my San Diego photoset on Flickr. There are also a few shots in the set taken that same day, but at sunset.

This week’s Friday Photos were both taken at the San Diego Zoo. My family and I enjoyed a wonderful day at the zoo last weekend and I was able to take a few shots with my new Sigma 70-300mm.

I’ve gutted and revamped my photoblog at http://photography.thewentzels.org. I moved the backend from Pixelpost to Wordpress and created a custom theme.

There were only a handful of photos on the old site. So far two have been reposted. The others will begin appearing again over the next several days/weeks in addition to new photos.
